Starting on Sunday November 1, National Novel Writing Month kicks off.
The challenge, as described HERE is to take one month out of the year and push yourself to write a novel of 50,000 words, from scratch, in one month. Essentially it is a novel writer's equivalent of 24 Hour Comic day. It also serves to set a goal for people struggling to get something together from a story perspective, a little competition, and a way to mark an accomplishment sized notch in one's belt.
For the past several years I have watched the NaNoWriMo come and go, often remarking that I'd like to participate in it. My biggest problem when it comes to writing is that I tend to hyper prepare to write, rather than just writing what's on my mind. This kind of style doesn't really work for this kind of "competition" and in fact it has yet to work outside of competitions also. This year, I'm hoping to change that.
